The YSR Congress party has strongly taken exception to the campaign unleashed by retired IPS officer and former Andhra Pradesh intelligence chief A B Venkateshwara Rao against party president Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy.
The party also objected to ABV calling on “Kodi Kathi Sinu” at Amalapuram and extending support to him, despite knowing that the latter had made an attempt on the life of Jagan.
“It appears there is a conspiracy behind the retired IPS officer supporting a murder accused,” YSRCP senior leader and ex-MLA Gadikota Srikanth Reddy said.
He alleged that the TDP-led coalition government is trying to implement its hidden agenda by pressing former police official into service in the garb political entry to discredit the opposition.
Reddy questioned the rationale of former intelligence chief meeting the accused in the attempt to murder of Jagan Mohan Reddy at Vizag airport and speaking in the voice TDP about the case.
‘I invite you to an open debate on the issue anytime,’ he said adding that the former cop was being used by TDP to settle political scores.
The NIA charge-sheet has clearly mentioned that the person carried out the attack with a sharp weapon aimed at the neck with the intention to kill Jagan, he said.
“The former cop now coming to town, taking photos with the accused and talking tall indicates that there is some secret agenda. He has been speaking in a manner and measure which is undemocratic and is trying to whip up passions and to create a wedge to serve the interests of his masters,” he said.
Srikanth Reddy said ABV was suspended from service following serious allegations and it seems that he wants to vent his vengeance at the behest of TDP with the Red Book constitution in full play.
“ABV is now trying to flare up the issue which was cleared by the NIA investigation and if the former Intelligence Chief wants to join politics one can understand but using such ploys clearly spells out his intentions and that of those who are influencing him,” he said.
