400 Acres Under Encroachment In Vizag?

400 Acres Under Encroachment In Vizag?

There is still a long way to go for the shifting of administrative capital of Andhra Pradesh from Amaravati to Visakhapatnam as the issue is caught in legal wrangle and whatever move chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy is proposing, it is getting stonewalled in the high court.

Yet, Visakhapatnam is already getting ready to become the state capital, if not now, but at least in the future.

Naturally, speculation over the capital shift in the coming months, if not years, has led to large scale encroachment of lands by several landsharks having political connections.

According to official sources, a special investigation team of the police led by senior IPS officer Vijaya Kumar, has investigation into who has encroached upon what extent of land, in anticipation of the city being converted into the state capital.

The SIT was constituted by the Jagan government last year to probe into the alleged land encroachments by various influential people.

Sources said Vijayakumar had made a comprehensive study on the issue and submitted a report to the government on who had encroached what extent of land.

It is learnt, the land sharks have grabbed not just one or two, but at least 400 acres in the vicinity of the proposed Secretariat area. However, it is not exactly known whether these influential people had any political backing or not.

But if the list comes out, it will have far reaching consequences on the state politics!
