3 AP Govt Lawyers Quit: What's Up?

As many as three advocates arguing various cases of the Andhra Pradesh government resigned from their posts on Wednesday, triggering speculations in the legal fraternity in the state.

According to sources, three lawyers – Penumaka Venkat Rao, Gaddam Satish Babu and Habeen Sheik – had put in their papers.

Their resignations come on a day, when the Supreme Court refused to grant stay on the state high court judgement seeking to reinstate Nimmagadda Ramesh Kumar as state election commission.

All the three advocates have been arguing the government cases in the state high court.

It is not exactly known whether they have resigned on their own or were asked to resign in the wake of a series of judgements in the high court that have gone against the state government.

Sources said their resignations have been accepted by AP Legal Secretary G Manohar Reddy.

In their place, the government might appoint three other advocates in place of the resigned lawyers by issuing a separate notification.

There is also a talk that these three lawyers might have allegedly misled the government on the cases in the high court, which indirectly favoured the opposite side, thereby bringing a bad name to the government.
