Although Nara Rohit is doing too many movies now, 'Tuntari' has created some sort of buzz as the film is scripted by Tamil director Murugadoss. Since it is remake of a super hit movie in Kollywood, hopes were high on this movie.

Will Nara Rohit get success with this film? Let’s find out its merits and demerits.

Story:
Kishore and his friends who are working as Software engineers in Satwam computers go for a trip and there they meet a Sadhu who gives them a newspaper which predicts the forthcoming happenings.

Kishore is skeptical about the Sadhu’s paper but when their company is shut down as per the newspaper’s headline, he starts believing. When they also read news that a guy named Raju, son of Anand Rao of BSNL wins boxing championship on Dussera festival and he dedicates the prize money of Rs 5 Crore to these five friends of Kishore, they are stunned. They successfully track down the Raju (Nara Rohith) but they come to know that he is not a boxer.

He turns out to be a youth who just spends his time roaming around. What happens next forms the story.

Artistes’ Performances:
Nara Rohit is not comfortable in this role which requires him to be mischievous and funny. He has tried hard to act as funny guy but he has shown rigidness in his expressions. He is good in emotional boxing sequences in the end.

New heroine Latha Hegde doesn’t look beautiful and less said about her acting the better. Kabir Singh is perfect as a villain.

The movie has no other important characters but Vennela Kishore and Shakalaka Shankar have created some interest with their performance.

Technical Excellence:
Technically too the movie doesn’t have much strength though the camera work by Palani Kumar is decent. Sai Karthik’s songs are totally boring. Nara Rohit doesn’t have dancing skills either. Stunts are good though. Editing is not crisp.

Highlights:

  • Good basic storyline
  • Some jokes

Drawbacks:

  • Slow and dull proceedings
  • Too many songs
  • Lack of chemistry between the lead pair
  • Choice of heroine

Analysis:
Directed by Kumar Nagendra who earlier directed ‘Gundello Godari’ and ‘Joru’, "Tuntari" has an interesting plot which is written by A R Murgadoss. Though the story is good the casting is totally wrong.

The film needs an actor like Sunil who could do comedy and action. Nara Rohit has proved that he fits well for serious-oriented themes but here he is like a fish out of the water.

A wrong guy is thrown into boxing ring and he has to prove that he has to be a champion if he has to win his lady love. This story can be made into good romantic comedy if it is made with a right actor in the lead role and with humorous bits. Though director seems to have retained the same screenplay of the original Tamil it is not engaging enough.

Sometimes it is funny and interesting but most of the time it drags on with silly songs and awkward dances by Nara Rohit.

When Kishore and gang find that the guy they are looking for is actually a fit-for-nothing youth who doesn’t know basic English language and has zero knowledge about boxing ...the movie turns interesting. The comedy that follows is good but later it goes completely out of the way.

Nara Rohit agrees to do boxing because the girl he loves is impressed when she thinks he is into sports. But the love scenes between Rohit and Latha Hegde are so dull. Moreover, the girl who played the friend of Vennela Kishore is more beautiful and energetic than this heroine.

The film has the tagline of "destiny vs hard work". A sadhu predicting things is all about destiny which is clearly shown but we don’t see much hardwork by Nara Rohit. Nara Rohit has also used this film to glorify his uncle Nara Chandrababu Naidu and Air Costa.

First half is told smoothly some highs and lows but the second half goes down the way. The narration never lifts up again.

Some jokes involving Shakalaka Shankar is good. The twist in the story when Kishore and gang realize that they found wrong guy is also interesting. As said before, such good parts are very few.

Overall, the movie is interpersed with the silliest romantic track and some jokes. A good story is told in a dull manner.

Bottom-line: Dull Vs Uninteresting!
