Director Raj Kiran who successfully made Geetanjali with heroine Anjali last year has teamed up with Colors Swathi and this has evoked interest.
Colors Swathi who has been typecast in girl-next-door roles, doing this film had further escalated expectations. Will the duo live up to the expectations with Tripura, let us find out.
Story:
Tripura (Swathi) is a village belle who has special powers - who can foresee incidents in her dreams. Whatever she dreams becomes a reality. Due to this, many marriage alliances get cancelled. She comes to Hyderabad for treatment at a Hospital and falls in love with the young doctor Naveen (Naveen Chandra). They get married. After marriage she comes to know that her husband had a friend named Isha (Pooja) who is missing. A Police officer investigates her case and suspects Naveen. Meanwhile, Swathi gets an appalling dream. What is that? Is Naveen guilty?
Artistes’ Performances:
For Colors Swathi, this role is a cakewalk. In the role of a village bell she is perfect. When she has to do horror elements in the second half, she has pulled it off easily.
Naveen Chandra has done his role perfectly. The guy who played the cop role is also good. Rao Ramesh is okay.
Some of the comedy bits done by Shakalaka Shankar and Jayaprakash Reddy are hilarious. Though Saptagiri has got lengthy role, he has gone overboard at times. Pooja in a small role is neat.
Technical Excellence:
Neat production values and adequate technical values are the movie's plus points. Cinematography and artwork are decent, but music and editing leave a lot to be desired. Screenplay is also not gripping. Director succeeds in narrating thrilling episodes but fails in comedy.

Analysis:
Horror comedies are in thing in Tollywood with high success rate for this genre, so here comes Tripura. Though the genre is being liked by audiences, this is also facing similar problem of mass movies - formulaic scenes and episodes.
After watching umpteen horror thrillers and horror comedies in the recent past, one gets the feeling that this has run on pretty routine manner.
The story offers some gripping moments but the director has wasted too much time on comedy in the first half that is not at all appealing. The interval bang comes after lengthy aimless diversions.
Is Tripura horror comedy or crime thriller or ghost drama? You can't tell the difference as it mixes all in one movie.
The strength of the movie is that the director keeps the suspense element till the end effectively. Also the comedy spoof of Shakalaka Shankar as a wannabe star is funny.
Colors Swathi and Naveen Chandra with their acting hold some interest too. Here and there the film offers some interesting moments but it is not gripping throughout because of its regular story and screenplay. Lengthy runtime also tests the patience.
All in all, Tripura will work for those who don't expect much novelty and who enjoy comedy.
