Story:
'Sawal'-the title itself suggests a challenge. The film depicts a drunken challenge between a rich father of a beautiful girl and a mass guy. And the challenge is also beneath the standards. The rich man bets with the mass guy to drag his daughter in love. And the rich man is Narasimham (Sjayaji Shinde) a police officer. The mass guy is Tirupathi (Bharath). And the young daughter of Narasimham is Keertana (Suhani).

How Tirupathi drags Keertana in love, whether he marries her or not is the main theme. And adding to this, the blend of fights, villains, crooked politicians, slum area and Tirupathi as their messiah are shown in beaten track.

There is nothing more to say about the story.

Performances:
Bharat is at his best and he is in tune with the requirements of a mass hero. He did well in dances but needs to develop a trade mark for himself with something unique in dance. The dialogue delivery depicts his native slang to some extent.

Suhani is very cute and looks very younger. She appears to be a 14 year old girl or a just passed out from school. Her baby face is yet to give her a heroine look. And she is comfortable and up to the mark with performance.

Shayaji Shinde did submissive role and he is not developing in his language. His Telugu is as horrible as ever. Others are ok in their shoes. It is Jaya who would have thought twice before holding the megaphone. Lack of home work or over confidence would be the reason for this output.

Analysis:
We cannot call the mound of bricks, cement, iron and sand as 'building'. We have to work with those items with meticulous plan to build anything. Similarly the mound of few fights, some songs, loud shouts and challenges cannot be called a 'commercial mass film'. All those mass elements should be blended in right manner to bring out an impressive output. Director Jaya failed in this aspect. She didn't keep focus on vital aspects like screenplay and dialogue. Though the story line is ok, it is difficult to bring conviction with this stuff. There are many comedians in the film- Brahmanandam, Ali, MS Narayana and Raghu Babu. But everybody could do at only below average level due to the lack of effective script. Although MS Narayana appeared to be promising, his role is very short and ended without leaving any impact. Ali's role is almost meaningless. Brahmanandam-Kovai Sarala comedy is also half-baked.

Jessi Gift although debuted as music director with this film, the BGM track for his song for Mumaith Khan in the film is copied from Michel Jackson's 'It's Close To Midnight, something evil is lurking in the dark…' (From the album-'Thriller'). Thus his career started with a lifted tune. Yes, he is gifted with this lifted tune!!!!All the songs are on beaten track and nothing special. Jessi should work harder to be a successful music director. But his peculiar voice has its own stand among the masses.

Ram and Laxman have composed very high voltage fights for the film. The body language and physique of Bharath indeed tuned well the composition.

On a whole, first half and second half of the movie appears to have watched somewhere earlier. The actual 'Sawaal' scene comes just before the interval. The plight of this movie depends on the acceptance of mass audiences, those are targeted. And that appears difficult.
