The only reason 'Padesave' made some noise before the release is because of actor Nagarjuna's promotion. The posters had grandly imprinted Nagarjuna's image with the line – 'A Nagarjuna's Encouragement'. Since Nagarjuna has a knack for introducing good talent, the film attracted attention.

So has the new director has lived up to Nagarjuna’s expectations? Let’s check out…

Story:

A triangle love story, the movie revolves around three youngsters – Karthik, Niharika and Swathi. Niharika (Nithya Shetty) loves her childhood friend Karthik (Karthik Raju) but he treats her as a good friend. Niharika introduces her close friend Swathi (Jaheeda) to Karthik. Swathi who is already engaged to another guy develops good bonding with Karthik and Karthik starts loving her. Swathi is aware of Niharika’s feelings towards Karthik. The rest of the story is how this triangle love resolves.

Artistes’ Performances:

Karthik Raj lacks both good looks and acting skills. This is his second film but he has not improved much from the first movie “Tippu”.

Both the heroines lack glamour though Nithya Shetty is somewhat better. Yesteryears glamour queen Rasi has played the role of a movie star. Viswa Raj as friend’s hero is okay.

The comedy done by Ali and others don’t evoke laughs.

Technical Excellence:

The only best part of the movie is some good songs by Anup Rubens. Cinematography is decent. Editing is major issue. Production values are okay. The screenplay by Chuniya is a mess.

Highlights:

  • Visuals

Drawbacks:

  • Outdated story
  • Boring narration
  • Bad acting
  • Silly comedy
  • Never ending scenes

Analysis:

In the recent past, a boring love story called "Abbayitho Ammayi" released. But that film looks far better movie when we compare it to this “Padesave” directed by newcomer Chuniya who has been associated with Annapurna Studios. How Nagarjuna agreed to promote such a bland movie is a big question.

Haven’t we seen this kind of triangle love stories many times? A boy treating his childhood friend as just a buddy, and she loving him has already been dealt in “Nuvve Kavali”.

A girl going through issues with her mother (played by Rasi) was also seen in couple of other movies. The buddy moments between Karthik and Nithya Shetty were seen umpteen times in several films in the last decade.

The film’s hero Karthik is shown as one who has passion for junk art. And his father Naresh turns down Karthik taking this as profession, reminds us of an episode in ‘3 Idiots’. But this angle of the story doesn’t make an emotional impact on us as it is dealt in a half-baked way. Even the bonding problem between Rasi and Jaheeda’s is not handled properly.

Generally, new directors write fresh scenes in their first movie, but director Chuniya has failed in her writing totally. She has picked up beaten-to-death scenes to tell the wafer thin plotline.

The jokes are even worse. Gay jokes are awkward. There is also a scene where a man is almost raped! It is meant as comedy. Such silly scenes are aplenty.

The director has shown her spark in some emotional scenes just before the climax. The story really comes into groove thirty minutes before the end of the movie and by then we have given up totally on the movie. There are hardly any merits to talk about.

All in all, “Padesave” is totally a bad movie, boring to the end. Lack of good narration by the first time director has killed it.

Bottom-line: Jaded Love Story
