I found ‘Orange’, a movie must watch with the hype it got. As soon as the movie started, I wondered if it were the ‘Orange’ that I was watching. There is no punch as expected in take off. There is no raise in positive mood even after.
As Ram Charan entered the screen painting something on a wall, I thought if were watching ‘Sydney Lo Swarnakamalam’. But there is no proper meaning to that act of Ram Charan. What he does is graffiti. His character name is Ram who lives in Sydney and loves graffiti which is a crime there. His characterization is something very radical in the aspect of love. He intends to live without lying to partner. All that he wants to say till the end of the movie is that no lover is living without lying to partner to make him or her happy. But true love is something that speaks facts including the fact that no love can be perpetual in same degree for ever.
The story starts as a flash back as Ram (Ram Charan) explains his split with Jaanu (Genelia), the daughter of affluent man (Prabhu) in Sydney. He says how love sprouted between him and Jaanu and how he split from her for the reason that he reveals the fact that he cannot love her forever in same degree. There is another flash back episode with another girl (Shazahn Padamsee) in the process. What happens at last? Will Ram and Jaanu unite? If they unite on what grounds? That forms rest of the story.
The concept itself is confused with the way it’s dealt. It appears that love cannot be lacerated this way and hence lacked the clarity, depth, emotion and sensibility. But what Bhaskar wanted to convey has a little point but wrong piloting crashed the film.
Ram Charan looked good in dances and gait on a whole. But Genelia has fallen like a coconut on heads. Her over action and costumes are disgusting. Madhurima is good in guest role. Shahzahn Padamsee is very cute and lovely.
Final Conclusion
Bhaskar, the director, in the process of introducing a path breaking concept has broken the heads of audience.
Coming to technical departments, music is good but all appeared similar. Cinematography is marvelous.
First half is a bit bearable and sensible with smooth flow, but the second half screwed up completely. Finally audience got confused and not understood what the director wanted to convey. It’s a no-no for mass audience and only a select set of hardcore fans, patient audience may bear this sour fruit.
It’s a sensitive topic that deals with an open truth of ‘loving in compromise’ or ‘bluffing in love’ but the narration spoiled the dish.
Bottom-line: ‘Orange’- Sensitive Topic, Senseless Narration
