The trailer of "NGK" didn't create interest. Suriya has been going through bad phase and Sri Raghava delivered duds in the recent past.

So, the film came to the screens amidst low expectations.

Story:
Nanda Gopala Krishna aka NGK (Suriya), an idealistic well-educated youngster doing organic farming, gets threats from local politician. He later joins as party man and starts working as assistant to this politician.

Vanitha (Rakul Preet Singh), a PR professional who gives suggestions to political parties, for some strange reason senses NGK's talent and starts using his support and soon Chief Minister of the state orders his men to finish NGK.

Why and what happens next forms the story.

Artistes' Performances:
Suriya is an exceptional actor; he has proved his talent in many films. In this, he is the only actor who has invested some seriousness. When the film is going totally downwards, he has tried to lift it with his performance.

Sai Pallavi has played domestic home worker's role but the talented actress seems to have failed to sniff into the script. Rakul is like decorative piece.

Technical Excellence:
The film is shot lavishly. One song is okay but rest of the songs are bad. Nothing much to talk about other technicians.

Highlights:
Suriya

Drawback:
Everything else

Analysis
Fifteen minutes into the film, you start squirming in the seat. Another 10 minutes pass, you begin to feel something is not going right.

By end of the first act (45 minutes later), you just look at others to check their reactions and get satisfied that all are bored or checking their mobiles.

By interval bang, it is pretty evident that this movie is a big bore and even second half would not change your opinion. Indeed, the second half is even big mess.

Suriya's "NGK", the much-hyped political thriller, has wafer-thin story and the plot is as silly as it can get.

In the second half, pointless scenes after scenes appear and many have walked out from the theatre before the climax portions begin to play.

Just as boring proceedings play on, one gets feeling that Vijay Deverakonda starrer political thriller "NOTA" which tanked at the box-office is 100 times better than this mess named 'NGK".

In the beginning, Suriya is introduced as M-Tech 'pichchidi' (hero's mother pronounces Ph.D as such) guy who is practicing organic farming. The local lenders feel threatened by his farming style and beat him. Then he joins a political party as karyakartha and does some comedy.

Suddenly, he meets political strategist played by Rakul Preet Singh, he gets projected as some big political activist.

First half of the movie focuses on he doing organic farming, being political karyakartha and meeting Rakul.

Post-interval, the drama suddenly shifts its tone and we get to see Sai Pallavi suspecting Suriya having affair with Rakul. After this lengthy drama, the movie again shifts to political drama. What is happening man?

Basic plot is flat, narration is uneven. Director Sri Raghava ("Adavaru Matalaku Arthale Verule") has vague ideas to talk about recent political developments in Tamilnadu but he has failed to put them in proper way. Thus we get to see this hackneyed drama.

Most-laughable sequences are Suriya changing dirty kakkus (toilet) into a clean one and singing and dancing to impress boss and Sai Pallavi's sniffing act. Sai Pallavi can sniff her husband's shirt and can sense that he has either touched or come close to another woman.

Despite Suriya's honest performance, "NGK" is a bore and gives headache.

Bottom-line: Hey Gopala Krishna
