'Krishnamma Kalipindi Iddarini' is a remake of Kannada film 'Charminar'. R Chandru, who directed the original film, has directed the Telugu film as well. It is all about how an ordinary guy goes on to become the CEO of a US-based firm. Let's see how the movie unfolds…

Story:
Krishna (Sudheer Babu) a highly successful entrepreneur in USA is invited to attend the alumni meet of his high school in Krishnapuram village on the banks of Krishna river. He agrees to attend not because of his school mates but to meet his long lost love Radha. Krishna then narrates how he fell in love with Radha (Nanditha) in 8th standard. Both Radha and Krishna hail from modest families.

When he is about to tell his love for her in school, his headmaster scolds him. After completing Intermediate, Radha and Krishna come to Hyderabad to complete their studies. Krishna joins an Engineering college and she joins a commerce college. Radha's mother (Pragati) pleads Krishna not to propose Radha as she will get distracted from her aim. Some years later, he moves to USA and is successful. Will he be able to express his love now? What obstacles would be waiting for him?

Artistes’ Performances:
Sudheer Babu has sported three different getups in the movie - a teenager, college-pass-out guy and a 35-year-old CEO. He has clearly worked hard for this film. There is also marked difference in his performance from his past films. Although he looks too old to play the role of a college student, this movie is his best performance wise.

Nanditha doesn't occupy much space but she is good. Producer Sridhar's son has played the role of Sudheer's younger version.

Chaitanya Krishna as college baddie is okay. Posani, Pragati, Giribabu and host of others have done justice to their roles. Saptagiri appears in a bar scene and irritates with his outdated comedy.

Technical Excellence:
The film is extensively shot in the picturesque locales of Karnataka. The scenic beauty is captured beautifully by the cameraman. This has given the movie rich look.

Music by Hari is okay. Songs come frequently and that is bad. But the song "Teeyanai Aasalu Nalo Repanu Tuhi Tuhi.." stands out. Production values by Lagadpati Srisha-Sridhar are good.

Highlights:

  • Sudheer Babu's sincerity and performance
  • Nanditha
  • Couple of love moments
  • Cinematography
  • Climax scenes

Drawbacks:

  • Boring first half
  • Slow pace
  • Unnecessary songs and unnatural emotions

Analysis:
Like Ravi Teja in 'Naa Autograph', Sudheer Babu narrates his love story while returning to his village to attend the school alumni meet. Three phases of his life are told at leisure pace.

The hero's aim in the film is to express the undying love he has for Nanditha. He tries this from his teenage to his thirties. This lengthy phase of his life is narrated languorously. Although the run time is just two and half hours we feel more time is spent in the theatre.

There are definitely some good moments. Climax is unexpected, interval sequence is good too. How Sudheer Babu takes inspiration from Nanditha and also school teacher to succeed in life is interesting. The director has some poetic sense but they should have been translated better. A throwback to the past era is what he has tried to present.

The story has scope to make a heart-tugging romance but unnecessary scenes, characters and songs have increased the length and slowed down the pace. Frankly, what is Chaitanya Krishna doing in the film? What purpose does character of the guy who says 'ee jaaga naadi' serve? Stories of an assistant director and an IAS officer girl have not stretched out. The sub-stories not linking to the main story and fights are major drawback.

If one likes Vikraman kind of films in the scenic backdrop with some weepy moments, this is for them. For others it doesn't make an enjoyable experience. There is a good message though.

Bottomline: High emotions!
