With two back to back hits, Nani has emerged as most bankable star in Tollywood today. Hence his movies are carrying huge expectations. Since he has teamed up with Mohana Krishna Indraganti who introduced Nani as hero in ‘Ashta Chemma’, this film carries huge expectations. Theatrical trailer upped the expectations.
So, does this movie have enough meat to deliver a hat-trick to Nani?
Story:
Katherine (Niveda) who is working as VFX artist gets impressed with a street smart boy Gautham (Nani) and falls in love with him. After few days, Katherine goes to London for a workshop. On her flight back home, she meets Aishwarya (Surabhi). During their journey to Hyderabad, Katherine gets to know that Aishwarya is going to marry a businessman Jay. Aishwarya narrates how she got engaged to Jay and their romantic trip to Kodai.
After landing in Hyderabad, Katherine comes to know that the guy Surabhi is going to marry and her boyfriend are the same. How can he love two women at same time? What is the twist?
Artistes' Performances:
Nani has shown his talent in acting department once again. He has shown the marked difference in portraying the two shades - of that class businessman and the street smart youngster. He has shown that he can portray any kind of role with easy. Actually, he is brilliant in the film.
Tamil/Malaylam actress Niveda Thomas has got meaty role and she is convincing in her role. Surabhi as lovable heroine is okay.
Avasarala Srinivas Rao as villain is not that effective. Vennela Kishore has generated some good laughs in the role of Sudarshanam.
Srimukhi as journalist, Rohini as Nani’s mother and Tanikella Bharani in a minor role are all okay.
Technical Excellence:
“Gentleman” boasts good technical and production values with able cinematography by P G Vinda. Manisharma has returned to movie scene after a long time and he has given couple of good melodies. His background score in particular is perfect. Editing is just average. Second half is damn slow

Analysis:
Known for making off-beat movies, director Indraganti Mohan Krishna has made a thriller with Nani. He begins “Gentleman” with romantic thread, not one but two love stories - one involving Nani and Surabhi and the other Nani and Niveda Thomas.
After the end of brief romantic threads the movie moves into a thriller mode - hero confusing the audiences whether he is a villain or Gentleman, heroine turning into a Lady Detective, many killings along the path, and a twist coming in the end.
These have worked out to its advantage. The initial romantic track doesn’t entertain but the movie picks up from interval. Although the twist doesn’t shock you or impress you, it serves well to the overall impact of the story.
In the second half, the director has also put an hilarious comedy track on Vennela Kishore. As manager Sudarshanam who doesn’t like people typing X or XXX on keyboards, he has given best comedy. The track of his short film uploaded on YouTube is also funny.
While this track goes on, heroine Niveda goes on a mission to find the truth about Nani. This offers some gripping moments. Nani giving one of his best performances is major strength to this movie.
Then Manisharma elevates many sequences with his good backgrounds score. “Gentleman” is a mixed bag. Surprising interval bang, some good suspense elements in the second half, comedy by Vennela Kishore and more importantly Nani’s performance have worked out well. But the movie also many issues like dull pace, not-so- interesting twist, predictable climax.
All in all, “Gentelman” is a watchable movie for its second half and for Nani.
Bottom-line: Decent Thriller
