After going through a series of flops, hero Sumanth has teamed up with message oriented director Chandra Siddhartha. Let us see if their combination has yielded any good result or not.

Story
Bullabbayi (Sumanth) is a typical village type of guy who has failed tenth many times but he is a very nice man with a kind heart. He has a strong love for Neelaveni (Pinky) from many years. Pinky who lives abroad comes for a visit and her elders plan marriage. She rejects many alliances but finally chooses Bullabbayi. However, there is a plan behind choosing him. What is that and how things take shape form the rest of the tale.

Performances
It was nice to see Sumanth showing so much of energy and expressions. He gave a dedicated performance and put his heart and soul to it. Maybe this should open up few good roles for him.

Pinky Sawika being a Thai girl fitted well into the role. It is not just her Desi looks but also her ease in expressions and confidence in front of the camera for her role which must be appreciated. She is indeed a surprise in this film.

Tagubothu Ramesh gave his share of humor, perhaps for the first time he was not drunk in his role.

Asmitha was alright and she has all sorts of 'potentiality' to bag character roles in many films, Harshavardhan did his bit as required, Raksha was regular. Others didn’t have much to offer.

Highlights

  • Music and songs with good lyrics
  • Storyline

Drawbacks

  • No emotional quotient
  • Slow pace
  • Weak screenplay
  • Insufficient entertainment

Analysis
Though this might sound too elementary for a director like Chandra Siddhartha, there is no choice but for him to make a note.

Film is all about an emotional connect between the screen and the audience. For that to happen, three components must fall in right place:

1. The scene must be written well with depth 2. The choice of artists for that scene must be apt 3. The scene flow should be consistent and gripping.

If either of them is missing, then the feel is lost and unfortunately, the film has failed in all the three departments.

The pace at which the audience these days seek entertainment and energy in a film, the director has to increase the emotion quotient in large quantity.

As such, the thought process was good, the idea was ok but without proper execution, the total purpose is lost.

The production values look quite good so it is a little perplexing as to why Chandra Siddhartha could not choose experienced actors for certain important roles for instance the heroine’s father, heroine’s neighbor in USA.

Most of the scenes have been touch-and-go but unlike his previous films, he didn’t concentrate much on bringing the depth and giving an emotional peak.

The lag in almost many scenes could also be the reason for bringing the energy down.

The film takes off on an enjoyable note and the nativity factor and light humor looked promising, but the dip began to come where it is actually intended to go up.

The interval bang was interesting but the story could not really take off during the second half.

But music and lyrics deserve a great mention. Songs entertain the audience with right blend of music, lyrics, rendition and the way they were canned.

In fact, the inspiration for this can be found from the Bollywood flick ‘Namastey London’ starring Akshay and Katrina. Point is, for such simple storylines, the emotional quotient has to be strong and those scenes must be conceived with good depth and feel that was missing completely.

Overall, this is a film which had strong potential to become a class family entertainer but the gaps are too wide.

Still, audience with good patience levels can watch it if they have nothing better to do.

Bottomline: This is an old horse
