Story:
The film starts with Brahmanandam getting a call from Bangkok for a stage show. He moves along with his crew (Apoorva, Sivaji, Ravi Krishna and others) to Bangkok but finds that the heroine (Sameeskah) was dropped out from the event as she developed a strife with two guys in the troupe (Sivaji and Ravi Krishna). Brahmanandam gets tensed up and decides to find a heroine in Bangkok itself. He pushes out Sivaji and Ravi Krishna to search heroine. They attempt for that but gets trapped in a ‘Heroin’ drug smuggling instead of getting heroine, due to communication gap. And they keep on escaping themselves from police with this issue. And in their parallel search for heroine Srinu (Ravi Krishna) finds a lady who is about to commit suicide. She is Arpita (Kamalini) who lives with suicidal tendencies. The troupe starts facing bigger problems with her entry. What are those problems and how they get rid of that has to be watched on screen.
Performances:
First to be discussed is about the performance of Brahmanandam. He couldn’t give out the comedy of his standard as the script is weak.
Sivaji tried to do something but the script turned a barrier for him as well. Ravi Krishna is very dull and pale. Future cannot be bright for him unless he puts focus on expressions and ease in body language.
Kamalini is ok. Apoorva is used for erotic aspect on screen. Sameeksha shines for sometime and she is the one who jumps out from the troupe. All other characters are on beaten track.
Music sounds ok with a couple of songs. ‘Mellaga Mellaga..’ is something melodious and pleasing. Another remix song that sounds the numbers ‘Nee Illu Bangaramganu,’ Akasam Lo Oka Thaara’, ‘Oka Laila Kosam’ and ‘Bangaru Kodi petta..’ is ok but pictured very dull.
There is nothing great to say about other departments.
Direction is weak on a whole. If there was no suspense element in the film, audiences would have walked out from theatre after interval. It is sad that a comedy film fails to sustain audiences in theaters with comedy and relies on suspense element.
Analysis:
The title of the film itself brings some doubts. It’s ‘Brahmanandam Drama Company’-but the troupe does only stage dances and not any dramas. It would have got justified had it been titled ‘Brahmanandam Dance Troupe’. Another aspect is that the story runs completely in Bangkok but we find only Telugu people in majority there. Comedy is lacking in the film and the so called comedy is not up to the mark.
On a whole the characterizations are also weak. Both the heroes (Sivaji and Ravi Krishna) attempt to rape heroine (Sameeksha). The troupe director Brahmanandam shows his lust on another artiste (Apoorva). The event manager (AVS) also shows off his erotic feelings on ladies in the troupe. What does it mean? Director of this film showed that there dwells only lust and desire in drama companies. If he tries to convince that is used for comedy, the taste can be understood. Both first half and second half go in same tone and the climax is boring. Sense and sensibility is lacking in this film on a whole.
