In what can be called as a new chapter in Tollywood using technology, noted producer Anil Sunkara has arrived with his ambitious project. Whether it was good enough or not let us see

Story
Bava (Allari Naresh), Ajay (Kick Shyam), Shiva (Vaibhav) and Purushottam (Raju Sundaram) are childhood buddies. The time comes when Ajay is to get married so the friends decide to go to Goa for one wild outing. On the way Bava comes across Geetha (Neelam) and it is love at first sight. His efforts begin to win her heart. After they reach Goa, the friends decide to have one wild night by drinking to the fullest. The next morning they wake up amidst a mess and find Ajay missing. What happens from there forms the rest of the story.

Performance
Allari Naresh was just one among the crowd. His comic stamina, punch dialogues, energy levels were not used to the fullest. Still, he managed to show his brilliance wherever he could.

Sneha Ullal was the sex kitten with a tempting body language. She did full justice to her glamour and performed moderately in few scenes. She would always fit for glam and hot sizzler roles.

Neelam Upadhyay did her bit as required. She was cute and generous with her sex appeal in songs. While it would take some time for her to gain confidence, for a debut attempt it was alright.

Vaibhav has got that screen intensity and untapped potential. Though his character was mild, he managed to stand out in few sequences.

Raju Sundaram was the funniest among the lot. His dialogue delivery, expressions and performance brought some smiles which were much needed in this film.

Shyam is handsome as usual and carries off his role in elegance. Compared to his co-stars, his screen time is less but he put good efforts wherever he got the chance.

M S Narayana was apt, Brahmanandam was not used properly, Sudeep was excellent, the duo of Posani and Sunil were there for brand value, Nasser was usual, Krishna Bhagawan was witty.

Highlights:

  • 3D effects in songs

Drawbacks:

  • Length
  • Stale comedy
  • Weak emotional quotient
  • Lack of intensity in drama

Analysis
The film has been announced as India’s first comedy film in 3D format and a lot of effort has gone in the making. But there are few things a filmmaker has to note while dealing with comedy genre. It is important to have energy in the screenplay, good wit and fun in the dialogues, depth in important sequences and some sensibility in the plot.

Ideally this film has been a lift from the Hollywood flicks ‘The Hangover’ but of course the difference is like Chalk and Cheese. One could also see traces from Bollywood films like ‘Dhamaal’ so that way not much effort was put on the creative side. Coming to the technical aspect, though it is a 3D film the extremely lengthy duration made the film cumbersome. Also, barring the songs, there were hardly any sequences where 3D was felt. It would have made sense if the 3D effect was given only for songs. This would have reduced the strain on the audience.

The reason ‘Hangover’ worked was due to its tight screenplay and perfect flavor of comedy with western nativity. Both were missing in this one. The first half showed some promise but sequences like Naresh-Neelam tree hanging, the Gorilla episode, the climax fight were not gelling well. The second half continues in the same momentum without much taste.

Overall, this is a film which seems to have focused more on the technology aspect rather than providing proper content and entertainment to the viewers. With the kind of budget involved, it could be really hard for the film to survive or recover its investment.

Bottomline: Not suitable for 3D
