Prashanth Varma amazed one and all with his first film Awe that was produced by Nani. After his second film Kalki turned out to be a flop, Prashanth Varma is coming up with a high-concept film Zombie Reddy due for release tomorrow.
Prashanth Varma long ago announced to make sequel for Awe. He affirms the sequel is definitely on and script work was also completed.
Clarifying about Nani not producing the sequel, Varma says, “Nani wanted to introduce only new talent with his production house. He was always clever about it. Even, I didn’t approach him for the sequel. Zombie Reddy producer will be producing Awe sequel as well”
The director also revealed that he is planning a sequel for Zombie Reddy and it’s titled Revenge Of The Dead. However, it will not be his immediate project. He has informed that his next project will also be a high-concept film with a unique concept.
Varma stated that they got good offers for OTT rights and remake rights as well.
“Though we got good offers for OTT, we reject all of them. We waited to release the film only in theatres. We got OTT offer right after the release of pre-look. We didn’t yet close the OTT deal. Since it is the film to be watched in theatres, we didn’t want to sell OTT rights for now.”
Zombie Reddy would have been a big film had it was made with a popular star. However, Prashanth Varma says Teja suits aptly for the role and the young hero has underdog image which is plus for the film.
“Moreover, Teja is a good actor.”
Prashanth says Zombie Reddy will appear to be a different film even for the Hollywood directors who made zombie films.
“Zombie is a genre and we are presenting it in a completely different way to Telugu audiences.”
