Kannada Star Upendra is ready to entertain with his high-budgeted futuristic extravaganza UI: The Movie slated for release on the 20th of this month.
Upendra says UI is an interactive movie with the audience. According to him, the movie’s title itself will only make full sense after the audience watches the entire film. "We’ve made the movie metaphorical," he explains, suggesting that its deeper meanings will become clearer over time.
The futuristic setting draws parallels to Kalki 2898 AD, but Upendra points out that while Kalki featured mythological themes, UI explores a more psychological dimension. "You will see a psychological version of Kalki in UI," he reveals.
With a crisp runtime of 2 hours and 10 minutes, Upendra promises a fast-paced experience. “I don’t like to drag things out unnecessarily. The film will move quickly,” he says.
The movie also offers a variety of layers. While it caters to the audience's love for commercial elements- such as music, fights, and grand visuals- Upendra adds that a deeper, metaphorical layer is embedded in the film.
"If you watch the film normally, it’s an entertaining movie, but if you look closer, there’s a political dimension. Dig even further, and you’ll find a philosophical angle. I’ve tried to incorporate all of these, and I’m curious to see how the audience reacts."
Despite the potential for sequels, Upendra is firm in his stance: he prefers telling fresh stories. "I don’t plan to make sequels. If the audience demands a second part after watching this film, I will consider it."
Upendra also acknowledges the impact of Aamir Khan’s positive words about the movie, which he believes have boosted its appeal.
