Yevam: T'gana's Oggu Katha culture to be a highlight

Director Prakash Dantuluri has announced that his upcoming movie, Yevam, will prominently feature Oggu Katha, a major element of Telangana's vibrant folklore, as a key creative layer.

This traditional performance art, which combines singing, praise, and storytelling, focuses on three Hindu deities: Mallana, Beerappa, and Yellamma.

Yevam is the first mainstream movie to commercially integrate Oggu Katha into its narrative, ensuring that this unique art form is showcased through the voices of authentic performers.

The film stars Chandini Chowdary, Vasishta Simha, Bharat Raj, and Aashu Reddy in the lead roles. Recently, CSpace and Prakash Dantuluri Productions released the film's intriguing trailer.

By incorporating Oggu Katha, Yevam has the potential to add depth and cultural richness to its subtext.

A gripping story that authentically portrays this folk art form could resonate deeply with audiences, particularly those who appreciate the preservation of cultural traditions.

The director’s dedication to research is promising, suggesting a thoughtful integration of Oggu Katha that flows naturally within the film.

Produced by Navdeep and Pavan Goparaju, the film features music by Keertana Sesh and Neelesh Mandalapu.
