Yes, I did a mistake, Posani tells police

Popular Tollywood comedian and writer Posani Krishna Murali, who was arrested on Wednesday night and remanded to 14-day judicial custody early Friday morning, has reportedly confessed to making abusive comments against political opponents of the YSR Congress Party.

During police questioning before being presented to the magistrate late Thursday night, Posani remained silent when asked about his controversial remarks targeting TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu, his son Nara Lokesh, and Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan.

However, when police showed him video clips from his press conferences during the Jagan Mohan Reddy regime, he had no choice but to admit to making obscene remarks.

In a recorded statement before Annamaiah District Superintendent of Police V Vidyasagar Naidu, Posani stated: "Yes, I made those vulgar comments shown in the video evidence. I made a mistake. I should not have spoken like that. I now regret my actions. There is nothing more I can say or do now."

Initially, Posani responded evasively, saying "I don’t know" or "I don’t remember" to most questions.

However, when the police played video clips of his abusive remarks, made both during the YSRCP regime and after the opposition alliance took power, and questioned whether his statements were illegal, he reportedly responded with: "Yes. I love you, Raja."

When asked why he insulted leaders such as Chandrababu Naidu, Pawan Kalyan, and Nara Lokesh, and whether he was influenced or encouraged by anyone to make inappropriate remarks against their families, he remained silent.

At times, he reportedly stated: "Yes, Raja. I said what I was asked to say."

He admitted to police that he had not anticipated the consequences of his comments and acknowledged that he had made a mistake.

When questioned about whether his controversial statements were made to secure the position of Chairman of APFTVDC (Andhra Pradesh Film, Television and Digital Content Corporation) and if his appointment was linked to his remarks, he refused to answer.

The police recorded both video and audio of the interrogation and later submitted the investigation report to the magistrate.
