Vishwak Sen's 'Laila' seems to have landed in unwanted controversy.
At its pre-release event today, Chiranjeevi attended as a guest but spoke more about how Prajarajyam became Janasena, his understanding of film fandom as personal taste, and other unrelated topics—while barely mentioning the film itself.
Then came Prudhvi, another speaker, who made a political remark referring to a scene in the film where only 11 goats remain at the end.
His intent was to make the audience laugh, but the comment was seen as an indirect dig at the YCP, which won only 11 seats in the 2024 elections.
Prudhvi was once with YCP, where he ridiculed Janasena and TDP. He was even given a respectable position in SVBC under the YCP government.
However, after misconduct involving a woman, he lost his post and was ousted from the party.
Now, he has shifted towards Janasena despite receiving nothing in return—highlighting his unstable and disgraceful political standing and personal image.
With clips of both Chiranjeevi and Prudhvi going viral, YCP’s social media team has launched a boycott campaign against the film 'Laila' now.
Seeing the situation, a journalist opined, "Inviting figures like Chiranjeevi, Pawan Kalyan, Balakrishna, or Prithviraj to film events can backfire, as they often make political, self-centered or controversial statements, much to the audience’s frustration".
