Ram Gopal Varma lost his form long ago. He has not directed any film that made a significant impact at the box office in the last 15 years.
Most of his recent works have been political satires, and he has been facing allegations of working on behalf of the YSR Congress party. However, as a filmmaker, he has created a legacy that is hard to ignore.
Even top directors like Rajamouli admire him and praise his filmmaking intellect.
Perhaps RGV realized too late in his career that he had lost his edge, having been intoxicated by the fame and success of films like Rangeela and Satya.
He admitted that he lost his vision after those films and drifted into making movies solely for shock value or gimmickry.
Recently, he promised to mend his ways and focus on creating films that align with his original dream of becoming a filmmaker.
He wrote, “But I promised myself two nights ago, while wiping away my tears, that every film I make from now on will be made with reverence to the reason why I wanted to become a director in the first place.”
But will Ram Gopal Varma be able to regain his former glory and create classics like he did in the past?
