Will Posani come out of jail, at least now?

Controversial comedian-turned-politician Posani Krishna Murali has finally been granted bail in the case filed by the Crime Investigation Department (CID) over his alleged abusive and vulgar remarks against Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, his son Nara Lokesh, and Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan.

The CID court in Guntur granted bail to Posani after a prolonged hearing on his petition. Currently, he remains in judicial remand at Guntur District Jail until March 23.

Earlier, CID officials had taken Posani into custody for one day of interrogation and were preparing to seek an extension of custody. However, before that could happen, the court approved his bail.

Several cases have been filed against Posani across the state in the past. To date, the YSRCP leader has been arrested three times and granted bail on each occasion.

Though many anticipated his release, the CID had issued a PT (Prisoner Transit) warrant and presented him before the Guntur court, which extended his remand until March 23 and permitted one-day CID custody.

Now that bail has been granted, there is speculation over whether police from other districts - where he faces additional cases - might take him into custody through another PT warrant, or whether he will be released.

Sources indicate that Posani could be released on Saturday morning, provided there are no other pending petitions against him in any police station.
