The film "Pathaan" has not only been embroiled in controversy but also seems to be a box office hit. Despite this being the third week of its release, the movie is still making staggering collections. Even on Valentine's Day, couples chose to watch the movie instead of spending time in parks.
On that day alone, "Pathaan" collected a whopping Rs. 5.65 crores, which is the highest single-day collection for an Indian movie in its third week. If the film continues to perform like this, it may surpass the third-week record collections of Rs. 50 crores set by "Baahubali-2" so far. Aamir Khan's "Dangal" is also in competition with "Pathaan" in this list.
Usually, a movie's collections tend to drop in its third week, but "Dangal" and "Baahubali-2" managed to maintain steady collections during this period, which helped them set records. Now, "Pathaan" is on track to break those records.
Moreover, "Pathaan" is set to create a record for the highest collection in a Hindi movie. The overall collection of "Baahubali-2" Hindi version is close to Rs. 510.99 crore, while "Pathan" has already collected Rs. 493.25 crore.
However, this week "Shehzada" and "Ant-Man" are releasing and will be in competition with "Pathaan". It has been observed that there isn't much excitement for "Shehzada" and "Ant-Man", so "Pathaan" may not face much competition.
"Pathaan" has become a superhit not only in India but also in the overseas market, where it has collected Rs. 360 crore so far.
Initially, it was thought that the song "Besharam Rang" controversy had saved the film from failing. But with the overwhelming collections of "Pathaan" day by day, it is clear that Shah Rukh Khan's popularity has not waned yet. He had carried the entire promotion of the movie on his shoulders, owning and marketing it as his own film, and has lived up to his title as the Badshah of Bollywood.
Overall, across all languages and regions, the movie "Pathaan" has amassed a worldwide gross box office collection of Rs. 963 crore so far.
