Following the success of "Veera Simha Reddy" and "Waltair Veerayya" in the Nizam region (Telangana), a segment of the film industry is celebrating as it has opened up the market.
Until now, Dil Raju had been distributing Mythri Movie Makers' films. The production company has now launched its own distribution through Sasi Reddy, a ceded distributor.
So far, "Waltair Veerayya" has collected approximately Rs 25 crore (without GST). It may collect an additional Rs 5, 6 crore (share). Similarly, "Veera Simha Reddy" has collected around Rs 12 cr could add another one or two crores to its kitty.
If "Waltair Veerayya," despite being a huge blockbuster, collects a share of Rs 30 or 32 crore, Dil Raju's argument is correct.
He has stated that heroes such as Chiranjeevi cannot earn more than Rs 30 crore in Nizam. He also claimed that Balakrishna's films could not rake in more than Rs 16, 17 crore in Telangana.
If the current trend is an indication, his argument may be correct. So it is premature to assume that the Tollywood industry has gained the upper hand over Dil Raju.
