The pre-release event of Laila was held on Sunday, with the presence of megastar Chiranjeevi.
However, senior actor 30 Years Prudhvi's comments during his speech created controversy. Hero Vishwaksen and producer Sahu Garapati have both responded to the issue.
Sahu Garapati shared, "We were taken aback when we saw BoycottLaila trending online. Neither I nor Vishwaksen were present when those comments were made. It wasn’t on our radar. Thousands of people work tirelessly to make a film that entertains the audience. This issue has disturbed us deeply, and we kindly ask that it be put to rest."
Vishwaksen also addressed the situation, explaining that they were unaware of Prudhvi's remarks until they saw the posts online.
"Our promotional efforts were going well, and I was surprised to see the BoycottLaila hashtag trending with 25K posts. Someone even threatened to leak an HD link of Laila on its release day."
He further clarified, "Why should the entire team suffer because of one person’s mistake? The film industry often becomes an easy target. When those comments were made, neither Sahu Garapati nor I were present. None of the content in the film reflects those statements. We ask for your continued support for Laila. My apologies on behalf of him (Prudhvi), and I hope this will put the matter to rest."
Vishwaksen also emphasized that they are not attempting to exploit the situation for their own gain.
