Buchi Babu, the debutante director who is coming up with the film Uppena has given an exclusive interview to greatandhra.com. He shared many of his fondest moments surrounding this film.
He said that the idea of this film Uppena has come during the shooting of Rangasthalam when he was working with Sukumar as an associate.
"I have narrated the plot point to Sumukar garu first and he got impressed. He told me to develop it. I took six months of time to write it completely. Then I took Sukumar ji's time and narrated totally. He got excited and hugged me and said that he is feeling something like putrotsaham", Buchi Babu said.
He has also shared his humble inner feelings while saying about Sukumar.
He said, "It's a great experience with Sukumar garu. He is very good at giving credit to others. He said in a function that there will be no Chitti Babu's character in Rangasthalam without Buchi Babu. That is his generous heart. I also wrote a story based on the character of Sukumar garu".
Mentioning about the hero he said, "The limitation of this project is it requires a powerful hero. It cannot be made with just a new face. The reason is it requires production values due to the sea backdrop. If I get a small new hero, the budgets will not work. One of my friends has shown the photograph of Vaishnav Tej. When I liked the pic and asked who is he, I was told he is the brother of Sai Dharam Tej. I doubted if I can get him, as no hero from Mega family was never debuted with a new director. Sukumar garu told me that he will call him to the office and directed me to observe from a corner. I did so. I liked his walking style on par with that of Pawan Kalyan. His body language is so impressive and confident. I got fixed in my mind that he is my hero".
