With initial resistance to the government's decision to introduce English medium in the government schools, former chief minister Chandrababu Naidu finally came to terms with the government on Thursday.
Chandrababu Naidu welcomed the government's decision during short discussion on the issue.
The TDP chief said he never opposed English medium in the government schools. He claimed that he had issued a GO in 2017 introducing English medium in municipal schools. However, he said Jaganmohan Reddy opposed the proposal that time as opposition leader.
While welcoming the decision, Chandrababu Naidu wanted the government to give option to the parents and not to make it compulsory.
Responding to Chandrababu Naidu's stand, chief minister Jaganmohan Reddy dared the TDP chief to prove his allegation that he opposed English medium in TDP government.
Jaganmohan Reddy said that Chandrababu Naidu is known for taking U turn on various issues for his own convenience. His stand on English medium now is no surprise, the chief minister said.
However, Jaganmohan Reddy asserted that the introduction of English medium in the government schools would help the poor students compete with the students from the corporate schools.
