Father of a veterinarian, who was raped and killed by four people at Shamshabad on the outskirts of Hyderabad on the night of November 26 last year found fault with maverick film director Ram Gopal Varma for cashing in on human tragedies.
The tragic episode of 26-year old veterinarian, who was given the name Disha by the police, has become a subject for Varma to make a film.
He released the trailer on YouTube and announced that he would release the film on November 26, the day when the tragedy took place.
Disha’s father moved the high court seeking to stall the release of the film and requesting that the trailer be taken off the You Tube.
The high court directed the Central government to resolve the representation, if any, made to the Censor Board authorities.
He told the reporters on Saturday that his family was yet to overcome the tragedy and the wounds were still fresh even after a year.
“But Varma is trying to rub the salt on our wounds. He is trying to cash in on the personal tragedy in our family by making the film,” he alleged.
He said Varma could choose subjects that would benefit the society at large, but not on subjects like Disha’s rape and murder.
“What message does he want to send to the society my making such movies? It is not a crime thriller, it is a tragedy,” he argued.
He further said it was not proper to make a film on her when the case was still being inquired into by a judicial commission constituted by the Supreme Court.
He requested the court to pass instructions restraining the director from releasing the movie on this November 26 as already announced by him.
