Vamsi, Kasireddy, PSR: Neighbours in jail!

Vamsi, Kasireddy, PSR: Neighbours in jail!

The central jail in Vijayawada has witnessed an interesting development on Wednesday, with the arrival of two more VIP prisoners – senior IPS officer and former Andhra Pradesh intelligence chief P S R Anjaneyulu and former Information Technology advisor to the previous Jagan government Raj Kessireddy.

Already, former Gannavaram MLA Vallabhaneni Vamsi is currently lodged in the same Vijayawada central jail.

According to prison sources, all the three VIPs have been allotted single cells in adjacent barracks.

PSR Anjaneyulu, who arrested in connection with the Mumbai actress Kadambari Jethwani case, has been assigned Remand Prisoner No. 7814. In the liquor case, Raj Kasireddy was assigned Prisoner No. 7813.

Given the sensitivity of their profiles, both were placed in single cells for security reasons. Kasireddy was placed in Cell 1 of the first barrack, and PSR in a cell in the second barrack.

Both are being held in isolation to prevent contact with other inmates. Vamsi has also been lodged in the same barrack, but separately.

Reportedly, PSR refused special privileges and requested to be treated like other inmates. However, Kasireddy reported having back pain to jail officials.

When PSR was brought to jail, he carried puja (ritual) items, which the authorities initially denied entry. PSR requested permission to conduct his religious rituals.

The matter was escalated to the DIG during a routine inspection, and approval was eventually sought from higher officials.

Interestingly, sources said jail authorities came to know that PSR and Vamsi do not see eye to eye due to their previous rivalry.

When PSR previously served as Vijayawada Police Commissioner, Vallabhaneni Vamsi was with the TDP and the Congress was in power.

At the time, there were several clashes between the two, making their relationship highly tense. Coincidentally, on Wednesday, both Vamsi (in connection with an extension of remand in the TDP office attack case) and PSR (awaiting judgment in the actress case) appeared before the same court.

After the court proceedings, both were sent back to the same jail. In the past, Vamsi had made serious allegations against PSR, even claiming he faced threats to his life from the officer. PSR was subsequently transferred to Hyderabad.
