Descendants of Uyyalavada Narasimha Reddy, a freedom fighter who led a peasant rebellion against the British in Kurnool district in mid-19th century, staged a dharna in front of the office of megastar Chiranjeevi at Jubilee Hills on Saturday, seeking justice to the family.
It is a known fact that Chiranjeevi’s forthcoming mega film “Sye Raa” is based on the life history of Uyyalavada Narasimha Reddy.
According to the family members, they had provided all the information to the producers of the film regarding Narasimha Reddy’s life history, their family background, their culture and also the locations in Kurnool where the freedom fighter had waged a battle against the British.
“The film makers assured to extend monetary benefits to Uyyalavada family members for providing all the information about Narasimha Reddy. Even Chiranjeevi had promised to do justice for us. But after the completion of shooting, the film makers have completely ignored us,” they alleged.
As the Uyyalavada family members were raising slogans at the office of Chiranjeevi seeking justice, the Jubilee Hills police entered the scene and took them into custody. They were taken to the police station later.
