Tamil and Kannada films have suddenly captured the USA market. With no notable Telugu films in the fray, Mani Ratnam’s “PS1” and Kannada film “Kantara” have gained.
Mani Ratnam’s period drama grossed another 200k dollars on its third weekend. The Kannada version of “Kantara” premiered in the USA on September 30. The film became the all-time third highest-grossing movie in the USA after the “KGF” movies.
On the other hand, the Telugu film “Boyfriend for Hire” which was released in the USA as well, could not get anything. It was a total dud. Megastar’s “Godfather” grossed $67k on its second weekend.
