Tollywood producer KP Chowdhury was arrested by the Cyberabad police on Tuesday, and a significant quantity of cocaine was seized from him.
He was apprehended by the Special Operations Team as he was leaving his residence in Kismatpur near Rajendranagar, and 90 sachets of cocaine weighing 82.75 grams were recovered from his possession.
During the investigation, it was discovered that he had recently procured 100 sachets of cocaine from Goa. There are suspicions that he might have consumed some of the drugs himself and also sold a portion of them.
Chowdhury was caught red-handed while he was on his way to supply the drugs to his clients. The arrest was made following the investigation into a previous case, where the Cyberabad police had seized 300 grams of cocaine a month ago.
Preliminary reports suggest that KP Chowdhury had been in Goa for some time, and the police confiscated a substantial amount of cocaine from him.
This incident is not the first time that Tollywood has been associated with drugs.
In the past, a drugs case created a sensation in the Telugu states, leading to the questioning of individuals such as Puri Jagannath, Charmmee Kaur, Navdeep, Ravi Teja, Subbaraju, Tanish, and others. However, they were all cleared of any involvement.
The recent arrest of producer KP Chowdhury has once again raised concerns in the industry.
It is worth noting that Rakul Preet's manager was also summoned for questioning in the previous drugs case.
