Europe distribution rights were bought for ₹5.03 Croresm (refundable advance) by a distributor based out of North America from the producers.
He then gave the entire Europe distribution rights to a sub-distributor, The Village Groupe, for execution with the same offer(i.e. ₹5.03 Crores)
Village Groupe executed the movie with the help of local exhibitors based in multiple countries in Europe. These local exhibitors submitted the final settlement report by excluding all the expenses incurred once the movie run is finished. They submitted the final settlement reports but paid only $219219.32 USD so far it the Village Groupe.
The same amount was handed over to the producer by the distributor and asked the producers to wait for the remaining amount - $384042.50 USD which they are yet to receive from the exhibitors from the Europe.
There were no issues with Kalki's North America final settlement reports. Producer accepted the reports sent by distributor and the distributor paid all the money by holding only $384042.50 USD (i.e. recoverable advance from the ₹5.03 Crores) which he is yet to receive from exhibitors from Europe.
Now, the producer is not ready to wait and insisting the North American distributor to pay the money to her first and asking him to handle payment issues with Europe exhibitors later. But, North America distributor requesting the producer to wait until he receives Europe settlement and then he will pay the remaining amount.
He don’t want to take the risk of paying money from his pocket upfront to the producer because the producer has an history of not returning advances received when movie do not recover that amount in the past.
