Actors may be great, but it’s the directors who sculpt them into stars and create iconic roles that leave a lasting impact.
Directors are the masterminds behind crafting memorable characters and delivering cinematic masterpieces.
Despite their contributions, why are Padma Shri and Padma Bhushan awards not frequently given to directors?
Most senior actors receive prestigious awards over time, and legendary filmmakers like K. Viswanath and Bapu have been honored with Padma awards.
However, in the current generation, apart from S.S. Rajamouli, no other director has received such recognition.
The Telugu film industry today boasts exceptional talents like Sukumar, Trivikram Srinivas, Hanu Raghavapudi, and Nag Ashwin. Don't they deserve the same recognition?
Trivikram is not only a talented director but also an accomplished writer with a solid educational background. He has delivered remarkable family entertainers. Power star Pawan Kalyan himself should have recommended his name for a Padma award.
Similarly, Sukumar has directed films of national repute, Hanu Raghavapudi has crafted sensitive narratives like Sita Ramam, and Nag Ashwin's work speaks for itself on a global scale.
It would have been commendable if such directors had also been nominated for Padma awards. However, it’s not too late. In future opportunities, their contributions must be acknowledged.
It's important to recognize that the creative minds working behind the scenes deserve as much, if not more, appreciation than the stars on screen.
