Siddhu Jonnalagadda’s Jack generated a lot of hype, largely due to the impact of Tillu Square.
As an action-comedy and Siddhu’s next big release after Tillu Square, expectations were high for Jack to open strong — if not matching Tillu Square’s impressive opening day collection of ₹11.07 crore.
However, on its opening day, Thursday, April 10, Jack managed to collect only ₹2.5 crore at the Indian box office — just about 20% of Tillu Square's opening.
Once again, it’s clear that if a trailer fails to create the right impact, the film’s opening suffers.
Meanwhile, Sunny Deol’s latest Hindi film Jaat also opened to a lukewarm ₹10–12 crore, around 30% of what Gadar 2 achieved on its first day.
Despite Sunny’s iconic status and the pre-release buzz, the film didn’t make it into the top 50 biggest Hindi cinema openings.
Limited occupancy and a weak connection with younger audiences seem to have played a role — showing that nostalgia alone isn’t enough in today’s dynamic box office environment.
In contrast, Ajith Kumar’s Tamil film Good Bad Ugly kicked off on a strong note.
Tamil screenings saw 73% occupancy in the morning, peaking at 81% in the afternoon, and holding steady at 75% in the evening.
The film is eyeing a day-one total of ₹28–30 crore net. Telugu screenings registered a moderate 16% occupancy.
