Trade Talk: Either Washouts Or Weakend Films

Trade Talk: Either Washouts Or Weakend Films

Currently, the film industry is in a peculiar situation where neither bad nor good films are faring well. It is a strange phenomenon where no movie is making a mark in the market.

This week, two movies, 'Ravanasura' and 'Meter', were released, but neither of them was successful.

Ravanasura, starring Ravi Teja, received more criticism than appreciation as it lacked emotion despite the added twists.

Meanwhile, Kiran Abbavaram's 'Meter' was a story that demanded a mass hero like Bunny or Ram Charan but was handled by a smaller hero. Despite his attempts to project himself as a mass hero in previous films, Kiran Abbavaram's performance was unconvincing, and the film failed to attract audiences.

'Dasara' also failed to make an impression in Andhra, Ceded, and North but was limited to only Naizam.

Vishwak Sen's 'Das Ka Dhamki' is almost done with its theatrical run and is set to release on OTT platforms next week.

Even good movies like Krishnavamsi's 'Rangmarthanda' washed out at the theatre with no audience. Dil Raju's 'Balagam' was doing well, but the makers killed the theatrical run by releasing it on OTT very soon.

As a result, there are currently no successful movies running in the Telugu states.

However, the upcoming films 'Shakunthalam' and 'Rudrudu' have an opportunity to capitalize on this gap if their content is impressive enough.
