Trade: 'Dasara' Super In Naizam But Not In Andhra

Dasara is the movie that propelled Hero Nani to new heights. The film invested heavily in recent times in publicity, spending lakhs per day on promotion in the North.

Its impact was evident in Telugu theatres, especially in urban centers. This publicity contributed to Nani's impressive opening in Nizam, Andhra Urban Centers, and overseas.

However, the film did not gain as much traction in Andhra rural areas as it did overseas and in Nizam. It had a decent outcome, but it remains to be seen whether it will generate the desired revenue for buyers.

In Nizam, it is running successfully and may collect around Rs 25 Cr in full run. The rights for Nizam were sold to Dil Raju for nine crores, while in the Visakha area, it was sold for over four crores, but it managed to cross the two and a half crore mark. If we add the expenses, another two crores would be required.

Given the constant influx of films being released every week, it is challenging to secure collections, and even if one of them becomes a hit, it can pose a problem.

Coming to Hindi version, the film collected Rs 2 Cr so far while the spending on promotions was around Rs 5 Cr.

Tollywood insiders speculate that the reason for Dasara's poor performance in Ceded could be the language used in the film. The authentic Telangana dialect may have limited its audience reach, thereby affecting its success in Andhra B and C centers as well.

Overall, producer Cherukuri Sudhakar has delivered a hit with Dasara. Nani's performance was well appreciated, similar to that of Shyam Singh Roy and Jersey. However, Shyam Singh Roy was a cast failure. Jersey buyers were refunded, though both the films have added to Nani's image.
