Telagana and Andhra Pradesh state governments ordered to shut cinema theaters and malls from tomorrow till March 31. This is a big blow to the movies that were released on Friday and the upcoming films that are slated for release in next couple of weeks.
Nani’s V has been pushed to the third week of April and Raj Tarun’s Orey Bujjiga also should find another spot for release.
And there is no guarantee that the theaters would start running from April as no one has a clue about how many days it would take to contain the Coronavirus pandemic.
March is considered to be a dull period for film business, but things look pretty bleak for April releases at this point. It would be a huge mess for the producers to pick good release dates if the theaters remain shut in April.
Movie business usually will be among the most affected businesses when natural calamities occur. But the Coronavirus pandemic is going to hurt film business like never before.
Let’s hope this would get over sooner than what it seems now.
