The shutdown of Theaters to Continue till July?

Theaters have closed their operations even before the lockdown was announced last month.

The shutdown of theaters will continue for another two months as exhibitors are demanding the same to cut down their operational expenditure.

D Suresh Babu who owns a large number of theaters in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana suggested that the theaters should remain shut until July.

He feels that people would be scared to step into theaters for another two or three months.

In a way, he observes that it would make a better business sense if producers wait for another two or three months to release their new films.

But producer Dil Raju who is going to lose heavily as money is stuck in several productions is hoping that the industry functions normally as soon as possible.

However, directors like Koratala Siva have already made up their minds that their films would not begin to shoot anytime soon.

He had planned to release his “Acharya” in August this year. But so far, only 40 percent of the filming has been completed. The film will not release this year for sure.
