Sushma Swaraj, the iconic BJP Minister, was the second person to complete a 5-year term as India’s Minister of External Affairs.
Renowned for her dedicated service, she was deeply committed to protecting Indians, even famously declaring that she would take every step to bring them home, “even if they were stuck on the moon.”
One of her most notable achievements was her tireless effort to bring back 22 Indian fishermen who had been imprisoned in Pakistan’s jails.
Unfortunately, Sushma Swaraj passed away before she could see the full extent of her legacy unfold. However, her daughter, Bansuri Swaraj, took it upon herself to continue the work of ensuring the fishermen’s safe return.
As we all know, the upcoming film Thandel is inspired by these real-life events and it is set to be released on February 7th.
Starring Naga Chaitanya and Sai Pallavi, the film depicts the journey of bringing the fishermen home, besides showing the courage and determination shown by Sushma Swaraj.
In a heartfelt gesture, producer Bunny Vasu met Bansuri Swaraj to personally thank her for allowing them to tell the story and using the original names.
The filmmakers obtained the NOC from the Swaraj family to use real footage from Sushma Swaraj’s press conferences, along with the actual names of those involved.
Bunny Vasu expressed his gratitude on social media, saying, “Heartfelt gratitude to @BansuriSwaraj garu for giving us the opportunity to showcase the remarkable work of your mother, the former Central Minister Mrs. @SushmaSwaraj garu, in bringing back the fishermen who were stuck in Pakistani jails in 2017 and 2018 in our #Thandel. Your support in granting permission to share the names in our real hard-hitting story of Raju and Satya means a lot to us.”
Directed by Chandoo Mondeti, Thandel promises to be an ambitious film, with the music composed by Devi Sri Prasad adding an emotional depth to the narrative.
The team opted for Pan India promotions. Today, the film’s Hindi trailer will be launched in Mumbai with Aamir Khan as the special guest.
