Swag Is Satirical Take On Gender Inequality: Ritu

Swag Is Satirical Take On Gender Inequality: Ritu

Ritu Varma stars opposite Sree Vishnu in the upcoming film Swag, directed by Hasith Goli and produced by TG Vishwa Prasad under People Media Factory.

In an exclusive interview with us, Ritu shared her excitement about taking on a challenging role in the film.

“I was initially nervous because I’ve never played a character like an evil queen before. My previous roles were more urban or girl-next-door types. The two characters I portray in this movie are unique and far removed from my comfort zone, representing different timelines.”

Ritu elaborated, “It felt like a queen’s spirit came to me; it happened very organically. In this kingdom ruled by women, we don’t believe in having a male heir. My character is quite authoritative, while the other character, Anubhuti, from the present time, is also somewhat aggressive.”

She praised Sree Vishnu’s performance, calling it his best work to date. “Sree Vishnu plays multiple characters from different timelines. We haven’t acted together in 10 years, since Prema Ishq Kaadhal. Though he’s a shy person, you’ll see a different side of him on camera. He truly outdid himself in this film. There’s prosthetic makeup for almost every character, requiring unique body language and modulation.”

Ritu emphasized that the movie is designed to be entertaining. “Swag is a satirical take on gender inequality, addressing topics like inheritance in a fun and light-hearted way. We didn’t aim to be preachy.”

She also commended director Hasith Goli for his exceptional attention to detail and praised producer TG Vishwa Prasad for supporting such a content-driven story.
