After receiving mixed reviews, Suriya’s Kanguva suffered a significant drop on its second day at the box office, dealing an unexpected blow to the ₹300 crore action film.
Co-starring Bobby Deol, Disha Patani, and featuring a special cameo by Karthi, the film has struggled to make an impact, failing to cross the ₹50 crore mark in two days.
According to early estimates, Kanguva, directed by Siva, earned approximately ₹9 crore on its second day.
If these figures hold true, it marks a disappointing box office performance for Suriya, with the film unable to secure even double-digit earnings on Friday, November 15.
The film opened with ₹24 crore on its first day, giving Suriya the biggest opener of his career but failing to maintain momentum. Day 2 witnessed an alarming 64% drop in collections.
Kanguva also faces stiff competition from older releases such as Lucky Baskhar and KA in Tollywood, as well as Sivakarthikeyan’s Amaran, all of which continue to bring in decent numbers.
On the global stage, Kanguva registered an opening of ₹40 crore worldwide but needs a stronger performance in the coming days to recover its massive budget.
