Summer Box Office: Final Month Also Wasted

Summer Box Office: Final Month Also Wasted

May is the last month of summer season. There wasn't a single hit in May last year, although dubbed movies did shine. This year's May was even worse. Not a single success at the box office.

There are already many discussions about this summer being wasted. None of the star heroes greeted the audience in May. Even Prabhas, who was expected to come, did not. As a result, the box office for May was empty.

Alarmingly, almost twenty five films were released in May.

In the first week, there were huge expectations for films like 'Aa Okkati Adakku' and 'Baak', but they did not meet these expectations. The Allari Naresh starrer comedy entertainer could not generate enough laughs. And the work of Tamannaah and Raashi Khanna together was also fallen flat.

The audience were not very interested in watching movies like 'Prasanna Vadanam' and 'Sabari' in theaters. Even though the Pawan Kalyan starrer 'Vakeel Saab' hit theaters once again, its run was limited to 4-5 screens only.

In the second week, movies like 'Pratinidhi 2' and 'Krishnamma' were released. Nara Rohit and Satyadev, who are looking for a hit, did not find success with these films. Along with these, films like 'Brahmachari', 'Lakshmikataksham', and 'Arambham also flopped and gone noticed.

In the third week, the situation worsened. Movies like 'Miral', 'Darshini', and 'Nataratnalu' came and went as quickly as they arrived. Even the re-release of 'Aparichitudu' failed to make an impact.

Dil Raju's 'Love Me' was released in the fourth week, but Raju couldn't deliver a hit with his family hero Ashish. Postponements, last minute reshoots, insufficient time for publicity, lack of innovation in promotions and errors in the content alienated 'Love Me' from the audience. Movies like 'Raju Yadav', 'CD', and 'Silk Saree', which came out in the same week were all ended up as utter flops.

Giving the finishing touch to May, 'Gangs of Godavari', 'Hit List', 'Gam Gam Ganesha', and 'Bhaje Vayuvegam' were released on the 31st. Apart from Hit List and Gam Gam Ganesha, Gangs of Godavari and Bhaje Vayuvegam are currently in the spotlight. It will be clear in a few days whether they will hit or break even.

Overall, except for the movies released on the last day of May, there was not a single success throughout the month. The summer box office was a waste. All hopes are now on the monsoon month of June.
