Stampede for Pushpa: MMM says sorry, as cops book case

The Chikkadpally police in Hyderabad on Thursday booked a case under Sections 105,118(1) r/w 3(5) of BNS against the team of actor Allu Arjun, Mythri Movie Makers, who produced the film Pushpa-2: The Rule and Sandhya Theatre for the tragic death of a woman due to stampede before the screening of the film.

The cops registered the case, based on the complaint of the family members of the deceased person Revathi and the case is being investigated.

“Stringent action as per law will be taken against all the persons responsible for the chaotic situation inside the theatre leading to the death of a person and injury to others,” deputy commissioner of police (central zone) Akshansh Yadav said.

The DCP said there was no intimation either from the side of theatre management or actors’ team that they would be visiting the theatre.

“The theatre management did not make any additional provisions regarding security to manage crowd, nor was there any separate entry or exit for the actors’ team, though the theatre management had information about their arrival,” the DCP said.

He also charged that the personal security of Allu Arjun started pushing the public, which aggravated the situation.

“Taking advantage of this situation along with the actor and his security team, a large number of people entered inside the lower balcony area,” he said.

Meanwhile, Mythri Movie Makers team expressed shock over the death of a woman in the tragic incident at Sandhya Theatre on Wednesday night.

“We are extremely heartbroken by the tragic incident during last night’s screening. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and the young child undergoing medical treatment,” the team said in a post on X.

“We are committed to standing by them and extending all possible support during this difficult time,” the team added.
