The Hyderabad police on Monday filed a counter affidavit opposing the bail petition filed by popular Tollywood actor Allu Arjun in connection with the Sandhya Theatre stampede case, in which a 35-year-old woman died and her nine-year-old son is battling for life.
Allu Arjun’s bail petition, which he had filed on December 27, came up for hearing before a Nampally criminal court. As directed by the court, the Chikkadpally police filed a counter-petition opposing bail.
Allu Arjun's legal team argued for the grant of bail. After hearing arguments from both sides, the court postponed the verdict to January 3.
On December 13, Allu Arjun was recently arrested in connection with the Sandhya Theatre incident. He was later released on interim bail granted by the high court on the same evening.
Earlier, the Nampally Court had remanded him to 14 days of judicial custody. The remand period ended on the 27th of this month, on which day Allu Arjun appeared virtually before the court.
During that appearance, his legal team filed a bail petition, and the hearing was postponed to Monday.
