Srikanth's Offensive Remarks From The Stage

Srikanth's Offensive Remarks From The Stage

A few days ago, at 'Pottel' film press meet, actress Ananya Nagalla was asked about the casting couch, which left her deeply hurt.

She expressed that this single question seemed to erase the respect she had earned over five years of hard work.

In a twist, actor Srikanth Iyengar, at the  press meet of same film, made shocking comments about reviewers, using such vulgar language that it’s unfit to mention here.

If Ananya Nagalla was insulted then, what has happened to the reviewers now is an even greater insult.

Since both incidents relate to the same film, Ananya’s issue is worth mentioning. If it was considered an insult for Ananya to face that question, Srikanth’s remarks have been even more offensive to the media. So, what should be done now?

When journalists ask the wrong questions, their associations hold meetings and take steps to prevent similar incidents.

Will the Film Chamber do the same for those who speak out irresponsibly? Will they hold such people accountable?

Let’s see what film association heads, who often say that media and cinema are one family, will do regarding Srikanth Iyengar’s remarks.

Every filmmaker feels his movie is a gem, and there’s nothing wrong with that. However, it’s the reviewers who determine if that gem truly shines.

Just as making a film is the filmmaker’s job, reviewing it is the duty of the critics. Attempting to silence critics is misguided.

This isn’t the first time Srikanth has spoken this way. He has shown this tendency in the past, and now it has worsened.

Srikanth wants to silence real reviewers, but before that, it’s people like him who should be reminded to watch their words.
