Six small films were released on October 6th, all vying for attention. These films include "MAD," "Rules Ranjan," "Mama Maschindra," "800," "Month of Madhu," and "Chinna." Let's take a look at the fate of each of these films.
"MAD" managed to capture the attention of the youth audience with its trailer, and as expected, it drew a good crowd on the first day. The film successfully engaged the youth with its slapstick comedy. Among all the films released that week, "MAD" stood out as the one that performed the best. Narne Nitin, Jr NTR's brother-in-law, made his debut in this film, and Sangeeth Sobhan delivered an outstanding performance. Kalyan Shankar directed the film.
"Rules Ranjan" seemed promising with its trailer and the hit song "Sammohanuda." However, the film disappointed the audience with its outdated storytelling and weak screenplay. Directed by Ratinam Krishna and produced by AM Ratnam, it failed to impress and was rejected by the audience on the first day.
"Mama Maschindra" faced box office struggles due to its confusing narrative and disjointed emotional flow. Despite Sudheer Babu in the lead role, the film saw minimal turnout in theaters, and it was labeled as a disappointment. Harshavardhan directed the film.
"Month of Madhu" featured Colors Swathi in a comeback role, but it failed to generate much interest among the audience. The film had poor attendance in theaters, and word-of-mouth reviews were unfavorable. The serious tone of the film, as seen in the trailer, deterred potential viewers.
"800," a biopic of Sri Lankan cricketer Muttiah Muralitharan, may have appealed to hardcore biopic enthusiasts. However, the trend of biopics had waned, and the film's portrayal of the Tamil Eelam conflict didn't resonate well with the Telugu audience. As a result, the film received less patronage than expected.
Lastly, "Chinna," a dubbed film from Tamil starring Siddharth, struggled to gain attention due to limited publicity and stiff competition with other releases on the same day. Unfortunately, negative feedback about the film's content further dampened its prospects.
The fate of these films varied widely, with "MAD" being the standout success while others faced challenges, including outdated storytelling, poor reception, and lack of interest.
