Sikandar Fails to Recover Even Salman's Pay

Sikandar Fails to Recover Even Salman's Pay

In the Indian film industry, there are several stars who charge hundreds of crores as remuneration. But when such big-budget films flop at the box office, even the money spent on their fees becomes unrecoverable. The latest example is a clear case of that.

“Sikandar”, which was released as a Ramzan treat, turned out to be a disaster — there’s little room for debate on that. Now, the film’s final box office collection has become a hot topic in trade circles.

According to trade reports, Sikandar is likely to wrap up its theatrical run with collections below ₹100 crore. If that turns out to be true, it means the film earned less than what Salman Khan reportedly charged as remuneration.

Salman Khan is known to charge over ₹100 crore per film, and buzz has it that he took around ₹120 crore for Sikandar. In that case, the film didn’t even recover the amount paid to its lead actor.

Meanwhile, the producers are now considering cancelling all multiplex agreements and releasing the film on OTT as soon as possible, hoping to recover at least a portion of their losses. However, it’s no secret that terminating contracts with multiplex chains is not an easy task.

The situation highlights the growing financial risk associated with star-heavy projects when the content fails to click with the audience.
