After the epic disasters of Liger and Double iSmart, director Puri Jagannadh is taking another chance, but he has a lot to prove this time.
The losses from Double iSmart need to be recovered, and Puri is working hard to make that happen.
Recently, it was reported that Puri narrated a story to actor Siddhu Jonnalagadda. Given Siddhu’s style and attitude, Puri’s signature roles seemed like a perfect fit for him. That’s why Puri approached Siddhu with a new story a few days ago.
However, Siddhu is already committed to a film titled Jack, and Puri’s story reportedly had similarities to Jack. Siddhu politely expressed his concerns, and Puri left, likely planning to come up with a different concept.
Meanwhile, producer Niranjan Reddy, who had faith in Double iSmart, invested crores in the project, buying the film rights in bulk. Unfortunately, the movie incurred significant losses.
To settle the matter, Puri reportedly suggested that he couldn't repay the money immediately but offered the rights to some of his older films for re-release as compensation.
However, it seems Niranjan Reddy was not interested in this arrangement, rejecting the offer, stating it wouldn’t sufficiently cover his losses.
