Sharwanand was skeptical to talk about Jaanu prior to its release. He was reluctant to give solo interviews to media as he feared that the film may get backfired due to the comparisons with its original, which was a cult classic.
He was aware that people would draw comparisons with Vijay Sethupathi's performance and strategically underplayed without making any big statements.
His last two films turning out to be duds also had him on the back foot for Jaanu. His worst fears seem to have come true as Jaanu is heading for a big flop at the box office.
The film had a dismal first weekend and the Monday collections were even worse. The film's theatricals were valued at Rs. 22 Cr and the buyers are staring at hefty losses already.
It is third flop in a row for Sharwanand as his last two films Ranarangam and Padi Padi Leche Manasu also have bitten dust at the box office.
His career graph was going up with back to back hits until PPLM happened. His upcoming film Sreekaram needs to click for Sharwanand to get back in the race.
He cannot afford another flop at this juncture.
