If Venkatesh's film Sankranthiki Vasthunam reaches the $3 million mark at the box office, it will set a new record.
So far, no other senior Telugu stars like Chiranjeevi, Balakrishna, or Nagarjuna have had a film cross the $3 million milestone.
In the Tamil film industry, both Kamal Haasan and Rajinikanth have delivered films that grossed over $5 million in North America. In Telugu cinema, Venkatesh would become the first senior hero to achieve a $3 million film.
However, the film's theatrical run is nearing its end, and it is struggling to reach that milestone. So far, it has collected $2.9 million and still needs $100K to hit the coveted mark.
Sankranthiki Vasthunam, directed by Anil Ravipudi, remains the true blockbuster of the season.
